המחקר במימון, מתרכז ברובו בשני תחומים עיקריים: השקעות וניהול פיננסי של חברות

בתחום ההשקעות אנו חוקרים את תמחור הנכסים הפיננסים (כגון מניות, אגרות חוב, אופציות ונכסים נגזרים), ובגורמים המשפיעים על מחירים ותשואות של נכסים אלו. כמו כן אנו מתמקדים גם בשיטות מסחר בשווקי ההון, נפח מסחר ונזילות, ניהול תיקים, קרנות שונות כגון קרנות נאמנות וקרנות גידור ובהתנהגות משקיעים.

 

בתחום הניהול הפיננסי אנו חוקרים את החלטות המימון של חברות עסקיות. התחום כולל נושאים כגון: מבנה ההון של החברה (יחס בין חוב להון עצמי), הנפקת מניות ואגרות חוב בשוק ההון, רכישה חוזרת של נכסי הון אלו, מדיניות דיבידנדים, מיזוגים ורכישות. נושאים נלווים לתחום כוללים הערכת שווי חברות, ממשל תאגידי, משקיעים מוסדיים והשפעתם על ניהול ושווי חברות, אקטיביזם של משקיעים, הון פרטי והון סיכון.

 

חברי מחלקת המימון עוסקים הן במחקר תיאורטי והן במחקר אמפירי של תחומים אלו. המחקר של חברי המחלקה עוסק גם בכלכלת מידע (אינפורמציה) ויישומים שלה בתחום המימון כגון השפעת מידע על החלטות פיננסיות של חברות והאופן בו בוחרים חברות וגופים אחרים לחשוף את המידע שלהם לשוק בתיאום עם החלטותיהם הפיננסיות.

 

במסגרת הפעילות המחקרית במחלקה מתקיים כל שבוע סמינר שבו מגיעים להציג חוקרים מובילים מהארץ ומהעולם. פעם בשנה מארחת קבוצת המימון כנס מחקרי שבו מתארחים חוקרים ידועי שם ומוצגים המחקרים האחרונים בתחום.
